Hello, friends! It’s been quite some time since our last diary update, and it feels great to reconnect with all of you. Time has been flying by, as always. I truly value vulnerability and the practice of sharing our journey in public, so I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be returning to regular diary updates in the upcoming months. Without any more delay, let’s dive into what we’ve been up to over the past six months.
Community Growth Metrics
Our community has been steadily expanding! On a personal note, my Twitter following has grown from 517 to over 679 followers. We are thrilled to have reached a milestone of 103 articles published in the Decentralized Diary, and the List of DAOs is now includes nearly 350 DAOs. Additionally, we’ve featured 54 tools on the List of DAO Tools. Lastly, our Medium following has been on the rise, with over 530 subscribers and counting.
The List of Cooperatives & Website Updates
We recently launched the newest addition to the DecentraList.com family, The List of Cooperatives! There is so much overlap with DAOs and Cooperatives, that this new site felt like a natural progression of our offerings. You can check it out here.
Decentralist.com NFT Project
A common question we often receive when engaging with people across the web3 ecosystem is, ‘How can I/we support your project?’ Until recently, our response was limited to encouraging others to help spread the word about our work through social channels. However, we’re thrilled to introduce a new way to support us: Decentralist NFTs! The realm of AI art has always captivated us. Around a year ago, John and I embarked on a secret NFT project called Honest AI, where we fed random, and sometimes absurd, prompts into an AI art generator and provided commentary on the resulting outputs. We shared these short videos and NFTs on a daily basis. To our surprise, the project gained momentum within decentralized social media space, although we chose to remain anonymous during its lifespan. A few months ago, we made the decision to reveal our identities and transition this project to the Decentralist. Now, any NFTs purchased directly contribute to funding the Decentralist.com project. You can explore our collection of NFTs and videos on OpenSea. We sincerely appreciate your support!
The DAO Coalition
The List of DAOs is excited to announce its official partnership with The DAO Coalition, serving as their designated DAO directory. The DAO Coalition is a dynamic collective of DAO leaders and representatives from various web3-friendly organizations, united in their mission to fortify the DAO ecosystem by advocating for common goals and facilitating collaboration among DAOs. We are delighted to contribute to the promotion of the Coalition’s remarkable endeavors. To learn more about their initiatives and how to participate, please visit their websitehttps://www.daocoalition.org/. On the List of DAOs, you can identify DAO Coalition members by the DAO Coalition emblem or utilize the DAO Coalition Member tag for targeted search results.
We are thrilled to announce that John and I have become Charmverse Ambassadors! The team at Charmverse has done an outstanding job in creating a remarkable platform, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. This partnership has us brimming with excitement as we anticipate the mutual growth and success that lies ahead.
We had the privilege of attending ETH Denver 2023 in Denver, Colorado, and it was an absolutely incredible experience! The conference was an impressive gathering with a multitude of networking opportunities. If possible, we highly recommend attending in-person conferences or meetups. We returned from the event both energized and exhausted. The chance to meet fellow web3 enthusiasts in person, connecting faces to profile pictures (pfps), and sharing hugs with our web3 friends made it all worthwhile.
As co-founders of a startup, we made the bold decision to take part in an accelerator program. After careful research, we chose to join Starter Studio and successfully completed their Idea Stage Accelerator program. The six weeks we spent in the program were extremely valuable. We acquired invaluable knowledge, established solid foundations for our business, and forged meaningful connections that will undoubtedly contribute to our growth and success.
Coding Journey Update
I’m excited to share that my Shecodes journey has come to an end! I successfully completed all four workshops, with the final one dedicated to React. From initially knowing nothing about coding, my knowledge of front-end development has expanded significantly, allowing me to build websites for our diverse range of projects. It was an incredible experience that served as a solid foundation for my coding skills. In the world of software development, the learning journey never ceases. Now, I’m embarking on my next adventure in back-end development with Zero to Mastery, eager to continue expanding my knowledge in this field.
ELI 5 DAO Update
We’ve been keeping busy at ELI5 DAO! We’re currently wrapping up our third epoch on Common Ground, with the fourth epoch on DAOhaus coming to a close in a few weeks. Speaking of coding skills, I built the DAO’s website, which is hosted on IPFS (a decentralized server). I invite you to check it out at www.eli5dao.com. The website serves as a hub for all our important links, and you’ll also get to meet our adorable DAO mascot, who makes a special appearance. In addition to our online activities, we recently held our very first in-person ELI5 meetup at ETH Denver. It was a long-awaited gathering and an absolute blast!
The Decentralist.com has evolved from a single site, the List of DAOs, into a diverse family of websites dedicated to providing trustworthy web3 information. Along the way, we have ventured into various areas to gauge community response. Some endeavors didn’t receive the anticipated engagement we’d hoped for and we recognize the significance of knowing when to pivot and prune as we continue to grow. Consequently, we have made the decision to sunset The List of NFTs and the Web3 Book Club. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who participated in these projects, and we value the relationships we have cultivated throughout the process. Our aim is to maintain these wonderful connections moving forward as we continue to grow Decentralist.com.
While the web3 space has witnessed its fair share of unsettling events in the past six months, we consider ourselves fortunate that none of these incidents have directly affected us or our project. On a personal note, our lives were quite chaotic due to a cross-country move, which is always an adventure. Our journey involved driving through an arctic blast, enduring temperatures as low as -15 degrees and battling blizzard conditions. Needless to say, it was a stressful experience. However, we are relieved to report that we made it through unscathed and have successfully settled into our new location.
And with that, we conclude this diary entry. So far, 2023 has been kind to us, and we eagerly anticipate what the summer season has in store! Here’s to embracing the unknown and raising a toast to exciting adventures ahead. Cheers!
