This diary update is way overdue! The past two months have been crazy busy, and we are in the middle of a cross-country move as I write this. (No rest for the weary, eh?) Now let’s get into what’s been going on these past couple of months.

The Good

Community Growth Metrics

I’m grateful to report that community growth continues to be a constant. Personally, my Twitter following went from 435 to over 517 followers. We are up to 72 articles published in the Decentralized Diary, over 275 DAOs are featured on the List of DAOs, and we have more than 44 NFT artists on the List of NFTs. Over on our newest site, the List of DAO Tools, we have 27 tools featured, and our Medium following continues to grow, now over 397 subscribers.

The Decentra-list is now www.Decentralist.com: The directory for decentralized resources.

Name change alert! After much debate, we finally purchased www.decentralist.com (goodbye hyphen!). It was the next (costly) step in solidifying our brand. Full disclosure, I was against it for a long time due to the price, but now that it’s done, I’m happy we went for it. Along with the change came a revamp of our tagline.

The List of DAO Tools & Website Updates

The newest member of the Decentralist.com family, the List of DAO Tools, launched on November 1st, 2022! With the growth of the List of DAOs, moving into the DAO tools space just made sense as we often get asked, “What stack should I use for my DAO?” and “ What tool would you suggest for XXX.” In addition to being an excellent resource for learning about tooling, the List of DAO Tools will feature all the reviews completed by the ELI 5 DAO. Be on the lookout for our first batch of reviews of Colony, which will be published near the end of January.

Our team has also been busy updating many of our websites, which is neither a small nor easy feat. You will now notice consistent formatting across the List of DAO Tools, the List of DAOs, and the List of NFTs.

Bankless DAO Partnership Update

Since the List of DAOs program launched in partnership with Bankless DAO a few months ago, close to 200 DAO suggestions have been submitted! Needless to say, they’ve been keeping us busy vetting new DAOs to feature on the List of DAOs. The BDAO community has been incredibly welcoming, and we are excited to continue to grow the partnership.

Coding Course Update

My Shecodes journey continues! I just finished my third workshop, SheCodes Responsive, where we learned advanced CSS and HTML concepts needed to build responsive websites. The final project was to create a multi-page, responsive portfolio website, and of course, for my project, I elected to begin coding our suite of sites over at Decentralist.com. It went well, and I learned a TON!

I look forward to my final workshop on React, set to begin after the holidays.

ELI 5 DAO Update

The launch of ELI 5 DAO has been a great success! We are nearing the end of the testing phase of epoch 1 on Colony.io. The community that has gravitated to the project is diverse and passionate, making the exploration and learning process super fun. The DAO has secured its second grant to keep testing going! Epoch 2 is set to begin on January 1, 2023, to test Samudai (https://samudai.xyz/).

Web3 Book Club: Season 2

Season one recently wrapped up over at the Web3 Book Club. It went well overall and allowed me to take a stab at Twitter space hosting, an area I hope to continue growing. We are gearing up to begin season 2, and the members elected to read The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch Jeffrey Zaslow.

The first meeting of season 2 is on January 5th. It’s not too late to get in on the fun!

The Bad

Not much to report in the “bad” category this month. The one negative I can think of is our email newsletter platform, Revue, is shutting down as of January 18th, 2023. This is a huge bummer, as the tool was a pleasure to use and the Twitter page integration was awesome! We plan to have our subscribers move over to Medium, where they can elect to continue receiving our articles via email. The silver lining is that this event has pushed us to develop an NFT-based newsletter subscription. More on this will be shared in the coming months!

The Ugly

Luckily, nothing ugly has occurred that is work-related. The ugliest part of my life at the moment is being in this time of transition as we move (once again) across the country. I should be an expert by now since this is our seventh move in twelve years. For some reason, moving is just something that never gets easier. Don’t get me wrong, we always look forward to the next location and adventure, but moving one’s entire life so frequently is exhausting! LOL Luckily, we are over the hump of leaving and are in transit to our new spot, so it’s all gravy from here (fingers crossed!).

And there you have it. Another diary entry is in the books. With the close of 2022, I have been reflecting on what an amazing seven months it has been since jumping into Web3 full-time. What an incredible, crazy rollercoaster of a journey it has been so far. I can’t begin to imagine what 2023 has in store, but I’m excited nonetheless! We hope you all have a restful and rejuvenating holiday season. Cheers to a fantastic new year ahead!
